Richard Carapaz (EF Training-EasyPost) took his second win of the season on the Traditional Alpes-Maritimes, soloing to victory on the mountainous one-day race.
The Ecuadorian gained his first race in his nationwide colors for his new squad, beating Felix Gall (AG2R Citroën) by 12 seconds on the prime of the Valberg in southeast France. Lennert Van Eetvelt (Lotto-Dstny) rounded out the rostrum 38 seconds again after getting the beating of Lenny Martinez (Groupama-FDJ) and Cristian Rodríguez (Arkéa-Samsic) within the race for the road.
EF Training-EasyPost had management of the race within the closing, pacing for Carapaz up the final climb of the day, the Valberg. Carapaz was the primary to go from the elite main group that had survived from the peloton, and his assault was the decisive one on the day.
