[Editor’s Note: This month’s Community Voices piece is a poem by avid runner, Angie Funtanilla.]
It couldn’t keep away.
The Solar.
Nor might I.
Needed to lace up,
Don the tights, lengthy sleeves, and cap.
Selected the already muddied sneakers. What’s a bit extra going to harm?
Their constructed for this.
This.
To style the soaked Earth, marvel on the majestic greenery.
The ferns are blushing as I ooh and ahhh
I’m speeding and I’m right here. Not lacking a single second of this ecstasy
I’m sopping all of it up and respiration all of it out
Encased in rapturous delight.
I carry and descend many times
Limbs as magical as those on this right here forest.
We. Are household.
My chest expands from a coronary heart widening in happiness
At this speedy descent on Peters Path
Quickening steps over protruding roots, twisty and curvy after which clean
To let all of it out,
Let the chest soar and the mouth roar
I can not maintain again
From this Earthy delight
This ridiculous freedom.
I.
I’m constructed for this.
