Christophe Laporte (Jumbo-Visma) claimed the victory in an exhilarating dash end on stage 1 of the Critérium du Dauphiné on Sunday. Matteo Trentin (UAE Workforce Emirates) was a detailed second.
The dwindling peloton reeled within the last rider of the break Rune Herregodts (Intermarché-Circus-Wanty) within the last metres of the curler coaster stage. Herregodts, wonderful held on for third place.
Laporte’s victory got here after a busy last hour wherein the sphere chased the breakaway underneath wet situations.
Due to his stage win, Laporte is the primary chief of the eight day stage race.
